Established in 1991, Oshkosh Specialty Vehicles is in perpetual expansion of our product offerings to meet the demands of an ever-growing customer base. In a short span of time, our company has achieved innumerous milestones.
Oshkosh Specialty Vehicle (OSV) Milestones:
- AK Associates, L.L.C. was established in 1991. Originally, our business started as a trailer service and medical systems installation company. Our founders started our company by refurbishing and upgrading medical trailers for the major medical equipment manufacturers as well as shared mobile medical service companies.
- In 1995, GE Medical Systems awarded AK a contract for the installation and upgrade of fixed site Magnetic Resonance Imaging Systems. Today, AK has installed more than 700 fixed site MRI systems.
- In 1996, we moved into a 30,000 square foot manufacturing building in Mokena, Illinois.
- In 1997, AK Associates sold 75% of the company to Prime Medical Services, Inc. (Prime Medical is traded on the NASDAQ under the stocker symbol PMSI).
- To meet the customer demand, in late 1997, AK Associates began the process to become a "CERTIFIED" manufacturer of mobile medical trailers for GE. To obtain certification, the company developed an innovative, high performance combination water chiller/air conditioning system.
- Subsequent to our certification, we obtained certification to build mobile medical units in conjunction with EDAP Technomed and Dornier Medical Systems.
- In 1998, we purchased an 80,000 square foot manufacturing building on a 4.6-acre site in Harvey, Illinois.
- In 1999, the company became certified to manufacture mobile medical trailers in conjunction with Siemens Medical Engineering and Marconi Medical Systems.
- In 2000, AK Associates designed and manufactured mobile medical trailers for positron emission tomography systems manufactured by GE and Siemens.
- In 2001, AK Associates acquisitioned one of its competitors Calumet Coach Company to forming Oshkosh Specialty Vehicles, the largest mobile medical manufacturer in the world.
- AKSV mobilized the first digital mammography system for GE Medical Systems in 2001.
- In 2002, AKSV acquired Frontline Communications Corp. to form one of the largest mobile television broadcast communications companies by combining the strategies of Frontline Communications and BAF Communications.
- To expand mobile medical manufacturing capabilities in Europe, in 2002, we acquired SMIT Mobile Equipment of Holland. The result has increased our domestic capacity and leveraged our business model for international orders to SMIT.
- Once again in 2003, AKSV expanded our family of companies by acquiring Winemiller Communications of Carlisle, Pennsylvania. The new addition has enabled us to complement our Frontline Communications product line while extending our services in the northeast. The end result has enhanced our capability to provide top quality broadcast vehicle-remanufacturing services.
- In 2003, we extended our repair facilities for AKSV and Frontline Communications by acquisitioning AMP Systems of Riverside, California. Our AMP division specializes in the production of trailers featuring large slide-outs for the communications, military and the exhibit/display markets.
- In 2005, AKSV made several strides in the innovation of medical unit manufacturing. We started the year by mobilizing the first Gemini PET/CT system for Philips Medical. Later that year, we mobilized the first Avanto MRI system for Siemens Medical Solutions, USA.
- Shortly after we became a subsidiary of Oshkosh Corporation, 2006 we changed our name from AK Specialty Vehicles to Oshkosh Specialty Vehicles (Our company is traded on the New Your Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol: OSK).
- On 2/2/2007, Certified for Siemens MAGNETOM Espree 1.5T MRI System
Today, we are a certified manufacturer of mobile MRI, PET/CT, PET, CT, Cath Lab, Mammo trailers for GE Healthcare Technologies, Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Philips Medical and Toshiba.
We continue to build toward the future by offering high quality, innovative mobile solutions in a cross-section of markets. We stand behind our product with the largest customer service and support team in the industry.
As we move into the 21st century, we will continue to listen and be responsive to our customers and medical equipment partners. Our innovation is unstoppable. We will continue to develop new concepts for our products; however, we will not forget how far we have come in such a short period of time. |
